CRICKET WORLD CUP AT EDDINGTON APRIL 28
The Cricket World Cup will be visiting Eddington, part of the North West Cambridge Development, as part of a worldwide tour.
In a morning of cricket events at Eddington from Cambridgeshire Cricket Board, visitors will be able to play cricket, try new forms of the sport, and have their picture taken with the famous trophy.
The event, on Sunday 28 April, will feature an All Stars Cricket session from 9.30am and a women and girls’ Softball Cricket session from 10.30am.
PLANNING PERMISSION GRANTED FOR HOTEL
The Eddington Hotel secured planning permission this month at the Joint Development Control Committee.
The hotel will comprise 150 rooms and will be operated under the Hyatt brand. It will also include a restaurant, a seasonal roof terrace, a coffee servery and co-working space.
The Locke-branded aparthotel will provide 180 rooms as well as a gym, café bar with kitchen, retail space and meeting rooms.
Works will begin on site in the coming weeks and the hotel is expected to open in 2021.
EDDINGTON NUMBER LAUNCHES SECOND YEAR
The University of Cambridge's cycling campaign at Eddington has entered its second year. The Eddington Number campaign was devised to get more people cycling in the Cambridge area.
The campaign is based around the Eddington number for cycling – which takes its name from its inventor, Sir Arthur Eddington, who was also the astrophysicist that the Eddington district is named after.
Your Eddington Number is the largest number of miles you have cycled or walked for a consistent number of individual days. They don't have to be consecutive days.
Eddington Discovery Day - June 15
A free day of hands-on activities, fun and discovery. Free events for all ages including art, crafts and games, cycling activities and nature and environment stalls and tours.
Martin Simpson at Eddington
Martin Simpson, considered one of the finest acoustic and slide guitar players in the world, will be at the Storey's Field Centre on April 27 from 7pm.
